Kimia Farma is a pioneer in Indonesian pharmaceutical industry. The origin of the company can be traced back into the year 1917, when Chemicalien Handle NV Rathkamp & Co.., The first pharmaceutical company in the East Indies, was established.
In line with the policy of nationalization of former Dutch companies, in 1958 the government merged several pharmaceutical companies to PNF Bhinneka Kimia
